Dr Jim Henderson
As Chief Operating Officer of UNSW Innovations, Jim leads the Commercialisation, IP Management, Finance, and Strategic IT groups that support and deliver the core mission of driving UNSW research outputs into use to benefit the economy and society. Prior positions included commercialisation roles with the University of California, San Francisco and the University of Utah. In those roles Jim led negotiations and executed agreements with companies ranging from startup biotechs to big pharma, including licenses for prospective human therapeutics. Jim is a Director of Bioparticle Technologies Pty Ltd and Cystemix Pty Ltd and is a member of the Data to Decisions Cooperative Research Centres IP Advisory Group. Jim was a commercial spokesperson on the National Health and Medical Research Council, NHMRC Development Grant Review Panel in 2010, 2013, and 2014 and was a member of the Uniseed Biotechnology Investment Committee from 2007 – 2015. Jim is currently Chair of the Association of University Technology Managers Online Professional Development Committee that delivers 20+ live webinars to members per annum. Jim holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Utah; is a Registered Technology Transfer Professional; a member of the Association of University Technology Managers; and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
